A culture is a way of life of a group of people–the behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next.
We talk a lot about culture here at CGA and not only the culture of people but “house culture” As a CGA class we sat down at the beginning of our semester and wrote down over 20 different things that we want to be know for.
As my time have developed here in Gainesville I am seeing so many benefits of being purposeful about creating an environment for people to experience the love of God wherever I go. Given the fact that I am either in one of two places this has not proven to be too difficult 🙂 You will find me either at AIM or at home these days and seeing people come overt our house and experience the love of God has been such a gift. I am also getting to reap the benefits of the culture that others created before me along with others and I am ok with that 😉
With five different houses in the CGA family each one is unique and has different history and along with that history comes new people with new stories. My house is a house of peace. It brings restoration and life. It has been such an important place for me to be this season as I go through one of the most refining seasons ever.
We also sat down with our house mentors and talked about what we want to be known for as a house. Things like authenticity and intentionality were thrown in the ring and I am so glad they have been. Being authentic is so important to me, it gives room for the people around me to be themselves.
House Culture. It is a real thing. We each carry something unique that brings people together and created some kind of lasting mark on the people around us. I live in a house that has a long lasting history of being a house of peace and a house that is rich in blessings.
